Capital Region Gives: The RED Bookshelf looks to the futureAlbany The RED Bookshelf is celebrating its 10th anniversary in a big way. The nonprofit community literacy program delivered 38,000 free books to under-served children throughout the city last year, and plans for 2019 are even more ambitious. With book distribution on an upward trajectory thanks to widespread community support, the organization announced its goal of providing 50,000 books this year - an increase of 32 percent from 2018 - at a kick-off event celebrating 10 years of giving back. "The generosity of the Albany community, its people and its organizations has made The RED Bookshelf's success possible," said Mary Beth Fowler, co-executive director of The RED Bookshelf.

April 20, 2016 - Rachel Eveleth and Mary Beth Fowler were awarded first prize in the Spring 2016 Capital Region Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneurial Boot Camp business plan competition. Their plan lays out the steps they will take in expanding this program throughout New York's Capital Region.
